Garlic Beef and Broccoli Noodle - Dragonfly's Childcare Recipes

Every day we are asked this question...sometimes several times a day! We all love a quick solution!

Below is one of my favourite quick recipes:

I love it for several reasons but the main one is because it can be very easily tailored to your family’s tastes. You can vary the vegetables and the meat or choose a vegetarian option. You can have as little or as much vegetable as you like.

I love it because you can prepare ahead. Do the prep when you have time, package it into zip lock bags, number them in order of addition to the recipe and place in the refrigerator till required. You can then pull it out of the fridge and dinner is on in 10 mins.

I love it because when you follow the directions, you can actually have a delicious stir fry instead of a beef and broccoli stew as we so often get when we attempt a stir fry at home.

I love it with the spaghetti noodles...most often in the pantry...but you can make it even more quickly if you have ready purchased noodles.


"Quick Garlic Beef and Broccoli Noodle Stir Fry"

Prep time: 10 mins

Cook time: 10 mins

Total time: 20 mins


  • 250 g mein noodles, or cooked spaghetti noodles

  • 3 cups broccoli florets

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 500 g sirloin steak, trimmed of fat and sliced against the grain (or chicken or pork)

  • 2 onions cut into 4 and then thin strips

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced or finely chopped

  • 1 tablespoon finely shredded green ginger

  • 1 large carrot, shredded or julienned

  • 1 capsicum finely sliced (if desired)

  • 2 long red chili finely sliced (if desired)

  • 1/2 cup roughly chopped flat leaf parsley

  • 1/2 cup basil leaves

You can also add in:

  • 1 cup bean sprouts

  • 1 cup baby spinach leaves

  • 12 snow peas

  • Salt to taste

Stir Fry Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup light soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil

  • 1/4 teaspoons ground ginger

  • 1/2 cup chicken stock (if required)


  1. Prepare stir fry sauce and set aside.

  2. Prepare steak strips, ginger and garlic. Mix together and set aside.

  3. Prepare vegetables. Set aside separately.

  4. In a large pot with boiling water, cook the noodles according to package directions.

  5. Add the broccoli for the last 2 mins of cooking .

  6. Cook until just tender.

  7. Drain the noodles and broccoli. Set aside.

  8. While the pasta is cooking, add olive oil to large pan.

  9. Cook the steak strips with garlic and ginger. Set aside.

  10. Cook onions and carrots. Set aside.

  11. Add capsicum (if using), and cook for 2 mins.

  12. Fold in sprouts, baby spinach and snow peas.

  13. Add the spaghetti to the pan and pour the sauce on top and toss.

  14. Fold in beef.

  15. Fold in sprouts, baby spinach and snow peas.

  16. Add a little chicken stock if you like extra sauce.
