What is Soft, Cool, Gritty, Coarse, and Fun?

The sandpit is a happy place for most children.

Sandpits help to provide children in the early years with basic knowledge of their environment and the properties of sand. They uncover treasures that have been long since buried along with new layers of sand... just like the earth and its many layers.

They love to dig in the nice cool free-flowing sand, fill buckets, and empty buckets, again and again.

Through playing in the sand, children build a number of different skills both physical and social. Sand play is very tactile and helps children to learn about textures

and develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

Use this opportunity to expand vocabulary and language skills by introducing words like soft, cool, gritty, coarse, smooth, empty, and full to also give them an idea of maths concepts.

However you describe it .... sand play is seen as great fun for all!!
