Very Messy Dinosaurs and Art

Two things that children enjoy equally are dinosaur play and artwork.

We thought that to combine these interests would make them very happy. Here we see the evolution of what started out to be about dinosaurs.

The children painted the feet of their dinosaurs and made footprints which they put all over their cardboard.

Their art experience progressed as the children led with their ideas. They began to paint the dinosaurs bodies as well as the feet, then roll the bodies onto the cardboard.

The children then painted their hands and wiped the dinosaurs onto the cardboard, this progressed into the children using their hands to wipe and experience the paint on their hands and arms, turning it into a sensory experience.

Their discussion was around the paint feeling cold, wet and slimy as well as looking like mud for their dinosaurs to play in. Lots of fun!!
