The Joy of Reading

Each year, childcare centres, schools and public libraries across Australia spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators. Early Learning Centre educators, schools teachers and public librarians create displays, develop activities, offer competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading.

All this to advertise the joy of reading!!!

It is fantastic for the children when the Educators get really involved in Book Week

Here we have Miss Larns and Miss Kate from the Toddler Room ready to step up and get down to it with the Toddlers. What fun those little ones would have had drifting off into this fantasy world! A special "Thank You" to these amazing Educators!!!

All the children at the centre along with the educators dressed up as their favourite book character. Thank you to all the parents for your co-operation making our book character week so special and memorable!

Book week is an especially fun week at our Centre. We love the opportunity to dress up, role play, dance and share our favourite books with the children even more than usual. It reminds us of the importance of reading stories to children and inspiring their imagination through spoken and written words. Its also a great chance to introduce some more language and socialisation into their day.

Advertise the joy of reading!

Our goal is to motivate children to want to read so they will practice reading independently and, thus, become fluent readers. That happens when children enjoy reading.
