The Fascination of Printing using Plants

Updated: Aug 19, 2019

The children at Dragonfly's Early learning have learned how easy it is to print with leaves and flowers. Leaves and flowers make lovely prints and patterns. The beauty lies in the shapes , colours and textures of nature.

The children went out into the garden to look for nicely shaped leaves and flowers with colour. This gets the children outside into the sunshine and communicating with each other in discussing the plants, flowers and leaves that they will be using.

The leaves needed to be clean and free of spider webs and dirt. The leaves are then laid out on unbleached calico

By pounding the leaves or flowers, an abstract pattern can be created. It is fascinating for the children to see the print and the colours emerge
