Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Programme
Updated: Mar 25, 2019

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Programme is an integral part of the programme at Dragonfly’s Early Learning.
This programme is the "brainchild" of renowned foodie, chef Stephanie Alexander who is passionate about changing the food habits of children
The garden beds are in and the plantings are constantly underway.
Everybody knows that young children love to be mixing, rolling, cutting, picking, digging and watering.
SAKGP pleasurable food education provides the opportunity to do just that through hands-on kitchen and garden activities driven by our educators
Through this kitchen garden program, children also learn:
Where their vegetables come from
How their fruit and vegetables grow
Positive food habits that last a lifetime
Numeracy and literacy skills
Science, their environment, sustainability and different cultures
Life skills such as problem solving, teamwork and critical thinking
To engage with the families and wider community supporting their service
Simple cooking activities on how to use what they grow for food
With the help of this programme, Educators are able to help the children to:
Develop a strong sense of identity
Become connected with and contribute to the world in which they live
Develop a strong sense of well-being
Become confident and involved learners
Develop effective communication skills
