Sensory Play

Children are always fascinated by the detail and life of tiny creatures like worms and ants.

Spiders, bees, worms, slugs and snails are other common species that children come into contact with in daily life in the outdoors. Children are intrigued by them.

Encouraging interest in these tiny creatures helps children to learn about them. They learn where to find them, what they eat, and where they live. Introducing maths skills, they can search for the largest worm and at the same time....the smallest worm.

These children used their fine motor skills by using tweezers to find the wriggly worms and count them. They found ants under pieces of bark and under rocks but they found hundreds of them in their very own worm farm.
