Self-portrait; A Journey into Self Identity

Self-portraits are a great way to start the year when children are getting to know each other. It allows them to explore their sense of self and build self-identity. It is also their way of documenting how they see themselves and how they want others to perceive them.

A self-portrait helps to foster a sense of belonging in the classroom

A self-portrait gives a child the time to closely study their nose, eyes and mouth along with the rest of their face and body to work out how it all fits together. They learn a great deal about themselves as they develop their observational expressive and reflective skills

These busy little people are engrossed in their task!
