NAIDOC Activities at Dragonflys

Last week the children at Dragonfly's Early Learning, celebrated NAIDOC Week

Each age group worked on their planned activities

Always Was, Always Will Be was the Theme for the 2020 NAIDOC celebrations which recognises that the First Nation's people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.

The Junior Kindy Dragonflys began by discussing the symbolic meaning of the colours on the indigenous flag (as stated by Harold Thomas)

Black– represents the Aboriginal people of Australia.

Yellow circle – represents the Sun, the giver of life and protection.

Red – represents the red earth, the red ochre used in ceremonies and the Aboriginal peoples' spiritual relationship with the land.

The children then enjoyed creating their own flags to dis[pley in their portfolios

Such beautiful flags they were too!!
