Getting into the Groove

Children love music and playing music for them or letting them create their own sounds works its magic every time.

Listening to and creating music helps children learn numeracy, literacy, and emotional skills. Incorporating music into routines and play in the early years has a positive influence on a child's early development. It gets them moving and inspires their creativity. It also helps the body and mind work together.

Music is a language of emotion in that it initiates different feelings. Music also builds intimacy. Young children build some of the most important relationships in their lives as infants and toddlers.

Rhythm is the most important element in all music and this is probably what children love the most....the ability to move to the music... "getting into the groove"

Last week at Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach, musical instruments were a huge hit. Putting a twist on making music, the educators cleverly suspended the instruments.

This was such fun!!!
