Lets Play Outdoors

The kindergarten outdoor learning environment has recently seen improvements to enhance and foster play based learning where children can explore and investigate natural and built environments. We have added a stage for the children to engage in dramatic play, musical exploration and the arts and have watched them develop confidence and a divine sense of self as they conduct shows and performances for our little Kindy community. This renovation has been a welcome improvement to the Kindergarten and has enriched the learning and experiences of our wonderful kindergarten family in alignment with the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines.

Joining the stage to the dome is a stream of rocks and pebbles with a sustainable water pump, adding a sense of wonder and magic to our yard. The children have been so creative in making boats from leaves and natural materials and watched them race down the stream. This has brought a whole new level of problem solving, investigating, curiosity for learning and higher order thinking to our play experiences.

We have added a dome for our thriving passion fruit vine to climb over and create a shaded, natural space for children to rest, read stories and regulate their emotions, as they play cooperatively and in solitary play, building constructions and planning their next experience.

In amongst the existing sandpit and mango trees, there are some beautiful timber logs, creating an enchanted balancing course that the children use to further develop their gross motor skills, physical well-being and imaginations as they engage in imaginary play scenarios. Watch out for the crocs below!  The ground has been covered with artificial turf to ensure a clean and safe foundation to enhance our group games and yoga experiences and give the children a sensory experience under foot.
