Let's Read a Story.

Updated: Apr 26

Each year, World Book Day is celebrated on April 23rd. Toddlers at Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach had lots of books to read to celebrate that day. Story telling is such an important part of their Education at that age

Stories have so much to offer children in the early years. Stories develop listening and communication skills, they improve concentration and memory, they bring experiences alive and they create a sense of wonder in their inquisitive little minds. Stories provide information, widen their vocabulary as well as stimulating an interest in what we hope will be a lifetime of enjoyment of books.

When telling a story, it is amazing to watch the reactions of the children as the storyteller engages with them. They watch facial expressions, hand movements, and listen to the tone of voice as they engage in wonder at what is unfolding before them.

Children all over the world love listening to stories and is as simple as reading a story from a book. By reading stories, you can encourage qualities like wisdom, courage, and honesty.

Reading a story helps increase their attention span and enhances creativity as well as introducing new words and pronunciation.

As you can see from these photos, they become completely engrossed in their books.

They look so cute!!!
