Learning to Cook

It is not very often that you find children who do not like cooking. They love it!

There are so many great things about learning to cook.

It is usually a collaborative effort and as such, they get to make decisions with their peers about what they are doing. They decide together about the measurements...is the cup full??...or only half full??

Who will get the cup and fill it...me or you??

Which ingredient will we measure first... the flour or the sugar??

Who is going to stir it? Can we all take a turn to stir it?

Decision making, turn-taking, mathematical decisions. These all come into play when doing something so simple as cooking something.

It is all a great learning experience
