Learning our Letters.
How beautiful are these Iguanas?
This is all part of learning letters and last week the kindy children learned about the Letter "I" for "Iguana"

Most children learn to recognise letters between ages 3 and 4.
Typically, the first letters that they learn to recognise are the letters in their name.
By age 5, children begin to make letter-sound associations
Children's knowledge of letter names and shapes is a strong predictor of their success in learning to read. Once children are able to identify and name the letters with ease, they can then begin to learn the letter sounds and spellings
Letter recognition enables beginning readers to associate printed text with the language that they speak. This is why learning letters is one of the first skills undertaken in Early Learning
This is all part of the progression into early literacy that begins when children attend an Early Learning Centre
