It's Spring!!! Lets do Sensory Activities Outdoors

Spring is here! Once it starts to get warmer, one of our favourite activities here at Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach is to introduce water play. Children love to play in water... it is like magnet to them.

On hot days, it is such a beautiful way to cool off but there is much more to water play than meets the eye. Water play provides hours of rich and valuable early experience to stimulate children's creativity and imagination

Water play helps to develop eye-hand coordination and maths and science concepts,

to say nothing of the enhanced social skills that develop as a result of the social interaction with others. Actions like pouring, squirting, scrubbing, squeezing and stirring all help to increase those fine motor skills.

Sensory activities like introducing them to slippery, slimy, cool and warm, will also help to master that pincer grip that they need to master holding a pencil.

As long as it is outdoors with their friends, they love it !!!
