Introducing Fancy Nancy!

The answer to yesterday's question is that this is a photo of the new home of Fancy Nancy, the Gecko who is the new pet in residence in the Kindy room at Dragonfly's Early Learning

The children love having a new pet!

If you look very carefully at the photo you will see Fancy Nancy in residence near the centre

In order to prepare children for the many challenges in their future, it is important to address the idea of change in these preschool years. Children can be helped to navigate the idea of change by being encouraged to notice differences in animals, plants and the things around them in the classroom and the gardens.

Nancy is a perfect example of change. Geckos are masters of colour as you can see from the photo, she is very easily able to adapt to her surroundings. It is almost impossible to find Fancy Nancy amongst the leaves in her new home.

It is not only chameleons who change can colour to match their surroundings. Geckos can blend into their environment very easily.

At Dragonfly's Early Learning we also use our gardening programme to demonstrate change. The children watch the progress of seeds, seedlings and everything in their gardens eagerly every day.
