How do we get Day and Night?

This week children at Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach, worked at answering the question discussed by the group during the space exploration unit, “How do we get day and night?” and “Is the sun a planet?”

Equipment was set up at the discovery table for the children to demonstrate their understanding of how the sun plays a role in day and night.

The children also had loads to laughs using the colour mixing goggles today too.

The children are exploring tools and technology and using them in a range of different play situations to create and discover. They are demonstrating increasing confidence and involvement in learning, building positive dispositions.

They investigate and approach learning, exploring and expanding ways to use language using the equipment provided to create their own ideas and opinions and share their thoughts with their peers.

We see our students as children who form an understanding of themselves and their place in the world through their interactions with others.

There is a strong focus on social collaboration, working in groups, in which each child is an equal participant, having their thoughts and questions valued. The Educator is not the giver of knowledge... children search out knowledge through their own investigations.

This is such a great experience for these Kindy children who are now approaching the time when they need to be "school ready"
