Gardeners at Work

Updated: Aug 12, 2019

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Programme has been an amazing project for the children at Dragonfly's Early Learning.

Gardening is great for kids- it teaches them love of nature and the environment, where their food comes from, how to care for plants and the joy of reaching a goal among many things.

As you can see from the photo below, even "Princesses" can get involved in the gardening!

How cute is this little one in her pink fairy princess skirt, busy doing the gardening?

Gardening also promotes team work. When children learn to be a part of a team, they learn more about interpersonal ways of thinking, which improves their ability to communicate with others.

Teamwork also helps children feel like they are a part of a community which can help in all areas of learning.

At a very young age, the children begin to learn through observation and Educators take every opportunity to make their activities in the gardens a learning experience and weave it into the curriculum as part of play based learning.
