Encouraging Role Play

The Kindy children are having so much fun with their new wooden boat.

With an amazing "toy" like a boat to play in, their very active imaginations can run wild.

They can be pirates on the high seas, fishermen bringing in their catch or, just, row, row, rowing their boat! Encouraging children to pretend to have an adventure on the river or in the ocean encourages them to role play, collaborate with ideas and take turns.

With this type of dramatic play they also learn social skills such as empathy and language development. In the excitement of the moment, they are motivated to convey their wishes to others and to speak from the perspective of their pretend roles. They easily slip into their imaginations and let them take over. So much fun to be had!!!
