Emergency Services: The Ambulance
At Dragonfly's Early Learning, we recognise the importance and value that members of our local community play in the lives of the children in our care. We actively encourage visits and search out community organisations to introduce the children to the people and occupations that make up our local community. Our curriculum advocates Community Involvement as a major contributing factor in the development and education of the children.
Members of the local community are involved in the children's lives on a daily basis whether it is the Mail Man or Woman, the Supermarket Assistant, the local Store Owner or the Policeman directing the traffic on the corner.
The children at Dragonfly's Early Learning are looking forward to a planned visit from the Paramedics and the Ambulance Service in the very near future. Last week saw a great deal of activity making ready for their visit to the Centre.
It is important that the children understand when and how to call Emergency Services, regardless of age. Early Childhood Learning settings provide the perfect platform for important educational messages and provide a safe learning environment for children to understand these messages.
We have all heard of children who have had to be responsible for calling 000 in an emergency and become solely responsible for directing the Ambulance. We want to make our little Dragonflies aware of what could be required.
What a great ambulance they have built!!!
