Centre Profile: Pre Kindy Room Ngaire Group Leader

We sat down with Miss Ngaire, our Pre Kindy Room Group Leader to talk about what children learn in Pre Kindy.

What is your experience in the child care industry?

I recently made the move from Forster, New South Wales to the beautiful Sunshine Coast and so far I love it! I have been in the early childhood industry for the last 5 years and it is a role that I feel very passionate about.

What is your role at the centre?

I am the Group Leader in the Pre Kindy room.

What do you love the most about the industry?

I love coming to Dragonfly’s and hearing all of the children’s exciting ideas, thoughts and questions, and the learning adventures that these take us on together. Your children have welcomed me with open arms, and I am so very grateful for that, I cannot wait to see where this year takes us!

Why do you think early learning is important for children?

I believe Early Learning is important for children as it gives them an opportunity to become increasingly more independent and the time and space to become curious about the world around them. When children become curious, it gives them the drive and eagerness to investigate, experiment and discover new knowledge and understandings.

What do children learn in Pre Kindy?

In Pre-Kindy we are big on play-based learning and strengthening the children’s self-help and social skills. During this age, the children are beginning to strengthen and positively maintain their relationships with their peers. We also like to provide the children with ample opportunity to play, which allows the children to build on their ability to investigate, problem solve, experiment and discover new ideas and information. We start to look at the question ‘why’ and ‘I wonder’ these begin to unlock the children’s ability to think critically as they share their thoughts, ideas and theories with their peers and educators.
