Easy and Healthy Snack Ideas

With School Holidays drawing nearer we thought that a list of healthy lunch box and snack ideas might be helpful when you need to think about food for hungry children

Celery stick pieces filled with peanut or almond butter Oven roasted chickpeas Homemade pita bread crisps cut into slices, lightly sprayed with olive oil and with a light sprinkling of salt and herbs. Bake in oven for a few minutes till crisp. Use as biscuits or snacks with hummus and dips Any combination of, cherry tomatoes, cherry boccincini, cheese cubes, fruit or ham on a small skewer Homemade Kale Chips Greek yoghurt with raspberries or blueberries Hummus and vegetable sticks Seed crackers Vegetable chips. Sweet potato, beetroot and carrot thinly sliced, mixed with a little olive oil and roasted till crisp Sugar snap peas Edamame Strawberries and blueberries Watermelon chunks Pear slices Fruits dried in a home dehydrator, sliced apples, oranges, strawberries, bananas, apricots Boiled eggs Chia pudding Fresh fruit kebabs Frozen grapes Celery sticks filled with cream cheese and topped with dried raisins, blueberries or cranberries Homemade falafels Organic homemade popcorn Fruit smoothie frozen overnight. It will defrost by morning tea Homemade trail mix of nuts, seeds, dried fruit, coconut flakes and dark chocolate Homemade Guacamole with crackers or carrot sticks Beetroot hummus with seed crackers Sliced cold omelette Apple slices with seed butter Minced beef or chicken made into “muffins”
