Dressing Up and Make believe

Updated: Jun 28

The Pre-Kindergarten Group at Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach decided that they wanted to have a very special "dress-up day" children just love the idea of "Make Believe"

Miss Louise, their educator, and the children together, planned their day. They wanted to pack as much fun as they could into their special day.

They organised dress-ups, cooking, and special makeup to add to the excitement of the day.

Children spend a great deal of their day in the land of make-believe. Using their imagination is a critical cognitive skill that is used throughout life so it is important to encourage children to use their imagination in childhood

Pretend play is also known as "symbolic play' because it involves the use of symbols. When they use symbols, they use something to stand for something else. You see this every day in the classroom In the case of pretend play, they may use a fork and call it a hairbrush or perhaps a tea towel, and call it spiderman's cape. Some days they seem to allow their imaginations to run riot.

We see some very beautiful dress-up play here!!
