Cutting Skills

Updated: Dec 13, 2020

The children at Draonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach are practising their cutting skills.

Learning to cut with scissors is both exciting and challenging for them. The open and close motion of cutting allows children to build up the small muscles in their hands.

These muscles serve an important purpose as they are the same muscles that will allow the children to hold a pencil as well as carry out everyday independent tasks like brushing teeth, eating with utensils and getting dressed.

When practicing cutting skills, a careful eye is required in this activity as the children are using real scissors, learning about hand-eye coordination and progression from left to right.

Its a big job requiring lots of concentration as you can see!!
