The Freedom of Construction Play

Playing with a variety of building and creative products helps children build self-confidence and encourages learning independent of their peers. By allowing children freedom in construction play, it also makes them think independently and encourages them to make their own decisions

The Sugar Gliders at Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach, have shown a keen interest in trucks and construction. Last week they made a construction table in their room allowing them to investigate the benefits of working together to construct something. The children watch to see how quickly or slowly the truck rolls through the dirt. They use their digger to learn how much sand they can pick up in the digger before it tips over.

Building a construction table also encourages discussion with others and builds on their self confidence amongst their peers . They become very heavily involved and the activity becomes all consuming for as long as their attention span lasts.
