Climbing, Sliding, and Jumping for Joy

At Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach, we recognise that a playground is more than swings, slides and a means to entertain children. The type of play that happens on a constructed playground represents one of the more important parts of a child’s development. Playgrounds are an essential element designed to support the health and development of little minds and bodies.

You can increase the value of play for children by understanding the benefits of adding stimulating and challenging playground equipment that provides opportunities for children to practice a range of social, emotional, physical, and mental skills.

Well-designed playground equipment entices children to play and teaches key developmental skills. Playground activities like swinging, climbing, and sliding may appear to be "just fun" on the outside, but actually support important body systems to develop and function properly.

The movements children perform on a playground build both gross and fine motor skills, along with core strength. Playground play also enhances the vestibular system — the sensory system that controls balance and coordination — and develops better body awareness.

Children find playing games of "Chasey" and "Hide-and-Seek" or crawling through tunnels or climbing up ladders or footholds really challenging. They love it and it keeps them actively entertained for long periods of time!! Preschoolers are learning to play with other children. They also like make-believe.

Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach have beautifully constructed purpose-built play equipment in their beautiful yards just waiting for children to play on
