Building a Great Foundation

Prewriting skills are the foundational skills that children need to develop before they can write. These skills contribute to the child's ability to hold and use a pencil along with the ability to draw, write, copy, and colour.

Using aboriginal symbols to work on pre writing skills has a two fold purpose; understanding the symbols and that they are used as a means of communication is paramount

The children practiced placing gems over the symbol lines to increase dexterity and fine motor development. This takes concentration and the children love the challenge!
