Benefits of Outdoor Play

Outdoor play is a big part of healthy growth. At Dragonfly's Early Learning, we make sure that the children get time outdoors every day.
Here are the benefits of outdoor play on children's health:
Playing outside helps children to develop their learning abilities...learning lots of things about the world...How does mud feel? How do plants grow? Why do we slide down instead of up? Does a butterfly have to learn to fly?
Outdoor play is great to encourage children's creativity to enjoy the natural environment.
There is something fundamentally healthy about being outdoors. It allows them to seek out exercise, fresh air and outdoor activities. Outdoor play develops a disposition for being outdoors. Giving children a ball or a bicycle encourages active play.
Children need lots of opportunities outside to develop basic social skills. pushing each other on a swing, pulling a wagon carrying another child or simply playing together. equipment encourages the engagement of more than one child. Projects such as gardening are good social activities.
Using outdoor play to fulfill basic childhood needs like jumping, running climbing, shouting, racing, rolling, hiding are important childhood experiences. Children need exercise and sunshine.
Children need the opportunity to explore the unknown, the unpredictable, and the adventurous. They need to be able to wonder at nature from the earthworm gliding through newly turned soil to a butterfly sitting on a leaf and then gracefully fluttering away in the summer breeze.
