A Story of Acceptance and Differences.

Following up on the activities of NAIDOC week, the children at Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach, enjoyed a story called "You and Me; Our Place".

This beautiful story is set in Darwin and takes the children on a journey with Uncle Tobias who tells them about his ancestors. The story is about differences, the old and the new cultures that exist side by side but more importantly, it is about acceptance...accepting each other and things that are different, the things that were and are no longer. It introduces the children to cultural diversity and sharing our country

This fitted very nicely into this year's theme for NAIOC Week which was: Heal Country!

This theme calls for all of us to continue to seek greater protection for our lands, our waters, our sacred sites, and our cultural heritage from exploitation, desecration, and destruction.

NAIDOC 2021 invites the nation to embrace First Nation's cultural knowledge and to establish our place relating to connections with the land and working with our first Australian people.

At Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach, each morning we say our Acknowledgement to Country in our group time

The children explored Aboriginal symbols and had a turn at drawing their own. They look amazing!

We are also connecting with the land through planting. We are digging up our garden and preparing the soil for planting seeds that will grow into new plants,
