A Quiet Place to Read

At Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach, we recognise the importance of books and giving the children the time to investigate and read.

The children see books as so much fun and they are so important for development for all ages.

They love nothing more than snuggling up with someone who can read to them or maybe even listen to them read depending on where they are at on their journey to reading.

Reading promotes language, communication skills and fine motor hand-eye coordination.

The children particularly love the "Touch n Feel" books as it adds another dimension to this age group by engaging their senses

A quiet place to read offers so many opportunities for children

* relaxation

* word recognition

*one on one time with peers or educator

* early literacy skills

* visual stimulation.

In the first 5 years, a child's brain is developing rapidly and at a faster rate than at any other time in their life. Reading, and being read to, promotes healthy brain development that lasts a lifetime

When educators share reading experiences with children, it presents infinite opportunities for developing language and emerging literacy learning. They provide opportunities for interaction to help increase children's understanding of what is being read to them.
