    Dance Like No-one is Watching!

Dancing is something that children really love to do. They are attracted by the music which then leads to body movements. They see it as "it's what you do"! Through dance, children learn to coordinate and control their bodies and move to the beat of the music. They love to copy adults, so they pick up dance moves very quickly. I am sure that we all wish that we could move our bodies with such gay abandon as a child. They appear to have no inhibitions once that music starts! F

    The Value of a Ball?

The value of a ball in early learning, you might ask? Once children start practicing ball skills, they will notice that their skills are improving. The more they practice, the more they improve. This helps children understand that they can learn and get better at something if they try. At Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach, we recognize that playing with a ball with children is also a great way to spend quality time and build relationships. As children's skills improv

The Bilbies are our Very Cute Babies

It is very easy to become involved with the Bilbys Group at Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach. The babies are so beautiful and are just starting in Early Learning. It is wonderful to watch them absorb all that is around them and to watch them grow, not only physically but cognitively as well. Their little minds are like sponges. They learn so quickly at this age. Last week the educators had puzzles and beading mazes set up primarily to promote the children's manipula

    Watch Them Bloom

Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach is a place where children are valued as capable learners. It is so cute to watch the look of amazement on a child's face when they have discovered something new and then excitedly, share it with their peers or their families. By choosing early entry to Early Learning, you are setting your child up to develop good learning habits and social confidence. They also develop a sense of belonging, learn to become much more socially responsi

    Granola Bark

Try this crunchy Granola Bark I love this recipe. If you normally eat cereal in the mornings, this is a nice change. So crispy. Natural sweeteners are used in this recipe. Be careful.... It is very addictive!!! Granola Bark is loaded with great healthy ingredients. Make it in a very thin layer and it becomes very crispy and delicious when cooked. Use it as a crispy biscuit and dip into a small bowl of a favourite yoghurt at breakfast, lunch or as a dessert after dinner. Child

Last week the children at Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach took a walk to the beach for beach kindy They walked along the bush path listening for the bird calls. Fun with Colour and Handprints

Children love it when they have lots of colours to use in their work. This week the Bilby's at Dragonfly's Early Learning have spent a lot of time mark making, taking the first steps to learning to early literacy. They love to make handprints in all of their favourite bright colours on the beautiful white paper. It is so nice to feel that sticky, gooey paint between their fingers. Over the year, we constantly focus on language skills and do this mainly through, stories, danc

    Mark Making....Taking the First Steps

The children from the Bilby's Group at Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach have been exploring mark making in different forms. Mark-making is the first step into early literacy for these little ones and enables them to practice their pre-writing skills. Fine motor development has important implications for children's engagement in fine arts, drawing, and emergent writing skills. Practicing mark-making involves introducing and practicing pencil grips, while perfecting f

Beach Kindy uses nature's resources to initiate learning while exploring the beach environment. Children are given the opportunity to explore, build sandcastles, search for

Dragonfly's Early Learning is the Place to be

As you can see from the smile on this little face, children love their days spent at Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach. This is a face of happiness while he enjoys stretching his imagination. Imaginative and creative play is how children learn about the world around them. During imaginative play, children manipulate materials, express themselves verbally and non-verbally, plan, react, communicate, experiment with different roles, and much more than I can mention. Fro

Soccer Lessons at Dragonfly's Early Learning

The children at Dragonfly's Early Learning at Coolum Beach once again have the opportunity to learn how to play soccer. Soccer is a very demanding sport that requires, strength, agility, flexibility, and endurance. From this very early age, the children are taught that from a physiological perspective, our bodies perform better if our muscles are warm so they do exercises before they start playing to warm those little muscles up. There is a very clear focus on flexibility to

    Lessons in Nature

Outdoor Learning has positive impacts for children. Although it may seem obvious, spending time outside is about more than spending time "hanging out." Nature play is child-directed rather than educator directed. Nature-based learning and learning through exposure to nature and nature-based activities occurs in natural settings. There are many positive effects for children who experience learning through exposure to nature. The positive effects include improved cognitive func
